Founded 1969
When, in 1969, Kay Dawson was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, she was
forced to quit her current job and take a position at Wichita Word Processing.
Five years later Wichita Word Processing was about to close their doors for
good. Instead of changing careers again, Kay bought the company for an unbelievable
$700.
The Largest Direct Mail Company In the Region
In 1974, Kay Dawson was the owner and only employee of Wichita Word Processing.
She specialized in letters and resumes. In a few years her dedication to quality
and customer satisfaction brought a volume of work that soon reached 500,000
pieces per year. From Wichita Word Processing was born Contemporary Communications,
Inc. Kay's determination to stay ahead of both her competitors and technology
has kept her on top of what has become the largest direct mail company in
the region. By continually adding new equipment and people to keep up with
the demands of her clients she has created a company that now boasts several
million pieces mailed every month.
We have also developed an excellent relationship with the Wichita Post Office.
The General Mail Facility in Wichita has rated #1 or #2 in mail delivery efficiency
seven years straight.

CCI ensures quality using our unique 3-step job sign-off process. At each
phase of your job, CCI employees submit their setups to their supervisor.
If the supervisor is satisfied that the work will be performed correctly,
the job is submitted to the Account Manager. After the Account Manager is
satisfied with the setup, samples, proofs, or data is submitted to you, the
customer for final sign-off. Only after at least 3 people see how the work
will be performed is your job allowed to start.
Even after sign-off, your job is continuously checked for quality by the
operator, their supervisor, and your Account Manager. After completion, each
and every job is scrutinized for mistakes and elements that could be improved.

POSTNET barcodes, like most other barcodes, are machine-readable versions of regular, everyday numbers.
Specifically, POSTNET barcodes represent the 5 digits of your zip code, 4 digits of your Zip+4, 2 digits
of your delivery point and a 1 digit known as the check digit. Twelve digits, the first 11 describe
the delivery address and the last aids the machine (in this case barcode reader) in determining whether
what it has read is a valid barcode.
